Position Summary: The Purchasing Buyer will be responsible for commodity strategy, quotation activities, selecting qualified suppliers, seeking alternate suppliers, supplier negotiations (price, schedules, and terms & conditions), documentation, write-up, and post-award management regarding Long Term Agreements, warranty, etc. The Purchasing Buyer will work with Engineering to identify and qualify new suppliers to meet customer requirements on new and existing programs. Essential Functions of the Job: 1. Release PO’s/Blankets. 2. Manage LTA agreements 3. Negotiate items and receive discounts based on MOQ’s or yearly commitments. 4. Setup standard shipment method. 5. Ensure proper system setup for purchased items. 6. Run make/buy opportunities. 7. Construct and manage RFQ’s for quoting. 8. Review performance on suppliers and work to bring in new alternate suppliers. 9. Work with engineering, as needed, for new or alternate parts. 10. Set first article and QA requirements when applicable. 11. Work with Supplier Quality as needed to improve items or remedy quality issues. 12. Remedy TCC’s as needed. 13. First line of escalation from material planners, second line is Purchasing Manager. 14. Strategic relationship with the supplier 15. Manage overall OTD and QA metrics Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s): + Technology – advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications a plus, advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software – JD Edwards One World a plus + Ability to multi-task and have the foresight to plan and delegate accordingly + Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills + Strong organizational and time management skills + Must be open to change + Requires complex problem-solving skills + Demonstrated ability to exhibit and model Alamo Group's Leadership Core Competencies: + Leading Change / Change Management: _Ability to drive improvement of team, division, and corporate goals and objectives through people.
