Job Description

The Buyer will play a crucial role in placing purchase orders to fulfill requests from the engineering team, serving as the Subject Matter Expert for supply chain hardware sourcing, risk mitigation, and strategic purchasing. This role involves managing business relationships for the acquisition of harnesses, PCBAs, and hardware subassemblies while leading quality processes for acceptance testing within the supply chain team.

Responsibilities

Place purchase orders to fulfill requests from the engineering team.Serve as the SME for supply chain hardware sourcing, risk mitigation, and strategic purchasing.Manage CM business relationships for the acquisition of harnesses, PCBAs, and hardware subassemblies.Lead hardware and electrical engineering-oriented quality processes for acceptance testing in the supply chain team.Research and evaluate requisition services, equipment, and supplies based on cost, service, quality, and warranty.Prepare specifications and bid forms, assist with bidding processes, and coordinate bidding processes.Create and maintain work tools to aid in the procurement processes.Review sourcing changes and make recommendations.Conduct cost analysis for determination of fair and reasonable pricing; negotiate terms and conditions.Ensure compliance activities on behalf of the company’s subcontractors and vendor base.Participate in process improvement initiatives to modernize and sustain the overall purchasing process.Purchase in line with the MRP system and ensure lead-times are met as directed.

Essential Skills

2-3 years of experience in purchasing and placing purchase orders to fulfill engineering requests.Proficiency in Excel.Experience in a manufacturing environment.Strong buying experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Manufacturing adjacent experience.

Work Environment

The position is onsite in a manufacturing environment, where you may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and non-climate-controlled environments. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required depending on the environment. This is a fast-paced work environment with a need for cross-departmental collaboration, involving both independent and team-based responsibilities. The company offers a very flexible organizational structure, providing opportunities for rapid growth in a startup environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, Alabama.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
