Position Summary This position is responsible for buying equipment and/or services in response to requests received through company departments. It is expected that purchases will be prioritized based on customer need and that research will be done to ensure best pricing for Company and its customers. Serves as an order manager, following orders from placement with vendor through receipt at our dock or our customer’s dock. Communicates status to the rest of the buying organization and customers as appropriate. Works with minimal supervision, takes direction from the Warehouse Manager; works closely with the Warehouse staff. Essential Responsibilities, includes but are not limited to + Maintain a status of current items on order, expedite suppliers as needed to meet customer demand + Conduct special projects, negotiate with vendors and manage orders from beginning to end. + Place orders for stock and/or customer-specific items accurately with a sense of urgency + Ensure best pricing on customer-specific items + Assist with receiving of materials and troubleshooting discrepancies + Interface with Warehouse personnel and Customer Service to ensure a smooth flow of information, deadlines are met, and back ordered items are received in a timely manner + Support the growth of the business by sharing lessons learned and seeking ways to continually improve the procurement and inventory management functions + Work with customers, shippers and freight forwarders to ship materials to customers domestically and internationally + Continually build on a knowledge base of procurement, inventory management, and safety product knowledge + Wear the proper safety equipment as required + Additional duties as assigned SAFER Competencies  + Sincere and Committed to Customer Service & Safety + Accurate and Productive to Support Quality + Fearlessly Ethical, Fair and Consistent to ensure Organizational Integrity and Safety Compliance  + Empowered to support engaged growth by ensuring team collaboration, development and motivation + Ready & Urgent Subject Matter Leader Qualifications + Minimum High School degree or equivalent. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred. + Three plus years industrial products purchasing/buyer experience. + Safety industry exp preferred. + Proven vendor relations and negotiations experience. + Navision software experience preferred. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.  The person will constantly operate a computer, speak over the phone, utilize a keyboard and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to converse verbally to exchange accurate information. Must be able to visually scan documents in detail to detect and identify needs.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. + The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to regularly push and/or pull 110 pounds (wheeled rack).
