Description We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist / Buyer to join a prominent organization in the York, PA area. The Purchasing Specialist will be accountable for managing the tactical elements of the supply chain, with a strong focus on finished and semi-finished goods in a fast-paced work environment. The Purchasing Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining service level excellence while being mindful of managing costs and inventory levels effectively. Responsibilities: + Negotiate optimal terms with vendors for goods and services, including pricing, payment conditions, service guarantees, and lead times + Collaborate with the Manufacturing team to determine material needs, create requisitions, issue purchase orders, and track orders to ensure materials meet production schedules + Evaluate and select suppliers based on key criteria such as cost, quality, service, reliability, and overall reputation, ensuring alignment with company standards + Coordinate with the receiving department to monitor shipments, resolve delivery issues, and ensure timely receipt of materials + Provide regular updates to internal planners and manufacturing personnel regarding delivery schedules, delays, or other procurement challenges + Communicate changes to production requirements with suppliers, assessing the impact on both vendor operations and internal teams + Organize and participate in regular supplier review calls or meetings to assess lead times and delivery performance while fostering strong vendor relationships For immediate assistance apply to job posting or call 717-691-2160. Requirements Requirements + Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist, Procurement Officer, Buyer, or in a related role within supply chain or logistics. + Strong organizational and analytical skills with great attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively. + Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage vendor relations and influence outcomes favorably. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines. + Proficiency in relevant systems/tools for procurement, such as ERP software or other purchasing platforms, is a plus. + Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices, with a focus on finished and semi-finished goods. + Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
