Focus: The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of goods and services necessary for the company's operations. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing practices.

Senior Buyer Essential Job Functions:

Solicit bids, analyze quotations received, select, or recommend suppliers and interview prospective vendors.Support supplier development activities, visit suppliers to assess their technology and cost competitiveness and facilitate resolution of technical capability issues with Quality and Engineering Departments.Evaluate opportunities for cost savings activities.Monitor market trends and economic forecasts affecting assigned markets and evaluate the impact of market trends on Winchester purchase spending. Monitor supplier health and evaluate risks they represent to Winchester business. Collaborate with Purchasing Manager to develop strategies to address the risks.Manage supplier delivery performance and coordinate annual supplier ratings. Manage adjustments and negotiations with vendors in areas of out-of-specification material, poor quality and surplus, obsolete, or incorrect material.

Buyer Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent 4 years or more of recent related supply chain and/or purchasing experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Knowledge of Deltek Costpoint preferred. Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and follow-through skills are essential, along with keen attention to detail, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and with minimal supervision.Procurement experience in a Government Contractor Procurement System environment following applicable FAR/DFAR regulations and the ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and management within areas of responsibility are preferred.

Location-Specific Requirements: 

This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant.  Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
