Job Description

The successful candidate will obtain requirements by verifying, preparing, and forwarding purchase orders to vendors. This role involves working in an office environment, occasionally communicating with vendors over the phone, and completing all administrative tasks associated with processing vendor quote requests and purchase orders.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and prices, obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items, and securing approval from the requisitioning department.Obtain purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers and monitoring and expediting orders.Verify receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered and resolving any shipment errors with suppliers.Authorize payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation to accounting.Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information, and invoices using the Epicor MRP system.Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.Manage vendor relationships through phone and email correspondence.Assist the receiving department to ensure timely receipt of materials and aid accounts payable in resolving any invoice discrepancies.Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.Compare and evaluate vendor pricing.Track orders and ensure timely delivery.Essential SkillsProficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Supply Management skills.Knowledge of MRP systems; Epicor System is a plus.Exposure to manufacturing environment preferred.Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a must.Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings and knowledge of electronic components and machined and sheet metal parts is required.Strong organizational skills, negotiation skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.Self-starter with a drive for continuous cost improvements.Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsBA or equivalent preferred.1-3 years of related experience, including experience in planning and purchasing of castings, machined and sheet metal fabricated parts, and standard electronic components and hardware.Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday, onsite from 8 AM to 5 PM. The role starts with a normal first shift schedule but could progress to an earlier shift if needed. The environment involves vendor communication, negotiating prices, and managing orders of varying complexity. Light reading of schematics is required, with support from the engineering team. Candidates should be good hard workers who are responsible and accountable, with strong communication skills across email, phone, and teams.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
