Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, your focus will be on translating ABB’s current and future product and service demands into appropriate supply chain strategies by ensuring the best global supply channels, identifying appropriate vendors, managing the commercial supplier relationships, and ensuring a stable supply of goods/services with optimum quality, cost, technology, and sustainable performance. You will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.The work model for the role is: ONSITEYou will be mainly accountable for:• Request supplier quotations to compare pricing and lead time to best fulfill current production needs; Identifies new suppliers and qualifies in cooperation with supplier quality and engineering.• Negotiates agreements with suppliers to obtain best terms and conditions for the Company; Periodically renews pricelists, terms, and conditions.• Initiates purchase orders (PO) in system, according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, confirms delivery with suppliers, monitors, and tracks goods to verify appropriate delivery and proper invoicing; Conduct in-depth evaluations of supplier performance, including product quality and voluntary compliance with schedule commitments. As needed, recommend alternative sources of relevant materials, services, etc. to minimize delivery issues and production schedules.• Work with Category Managers when necessary; Enforce terms and conditions of purchase orders, and compliance with legal requirements and Company policies. Resolve non-conformance issues, procurement mismatches, back-charges and claims in a timely manner to minimize Company exposure. Qualifications for the roleBachelor degree in supply chain, business, or technical field PLUS minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or related business OR Associate degree PLUS minimum 5 years experience OR High School diploma/GED PLUS minimum 7 years of related experience. SAP or ERP experience required. Knowledge of ABB initiatives related to SAP Ariba and CFIN/FTP. Strong working knowledge of MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Excellent analytical and communication skills. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
