The Buyer Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Procurement Staff with processing all purchasing requests for all supplies, services, and equipment. Additionally, ensuring viable substitute products are identified to minimize the impact of backorders. The Buyer Assistant will also support the Logistics, Sourcing, A/P and Clinical Value Analysis teams with supply inquiries and maintain current reports that impact procurement, receiving and invoicing.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
1. Review Purchase Order Confirmations in GHX and conduct follow-up as appropriate.
2. Coordinate with Purchasing Supervisors, MMIS, and Contract Analyst Teams regarding cost updates.
3. Assist buyers with backorder resolution and identification of alternate products.
4. Coordinate with Purchasing Supervisors to resolve Buyer Messages and Special Report Resolutions as needed. (INR, MBM, PCM, Open Order Report, PO Confirmations, Audits, etc)
5. Collaborate with Buyers and Contract staff to maintain accurate vendor contact information. This includes account numbers, addresses, phone numbers, method of order placement (EDI, Phone, Fax, email, online), website address, and vendor representative contact information.
6. Coordinate supply questions, needs and end user inquiries to the appropriate contact and Supply Chain divisions to ensure Customer Engagement is optimized.
7. Serve as the Liaison and Primary contact for Procurement questions, needs and inquiries.
9.. Coordinate and follow up with vendors for ETAs, Bulk Buy Status, etc.
10. Initiate necessary account setups for clinic integrations and new site account setups for Purchasing services provided outside of Lawson PO. (Ex: Kentwood Water Setup, Office Supply Accounts, Amazon Business)

**EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:**
A. Previous healthcare/hospital experience desired.
B. High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred.
C. Any combination of education, training and experience, which could produce the required knowledge and abilities, will be considered.
D. Must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
E. Strong verbal communication skills.
