Buyer I at TSI
Under general supervision, the Buyer will purchase materials or equipment involving less complex items and lower dollar volume of expenditures than an upper level buyer. Obtains materials, equipment, services or supplies at lowest cost consistent with required quality, quantity and availability. Actively researches and develops new sources of supply and/or recommends possible substitute materials. When assigned commodities being managed by a Commodity Manager, this position will function as a supporting role with respect to sourcing and negotiation tasks.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:
Effectively manages expenditures to reduce the total cost of ownership of material acquisitions
Maintain SAP Material Master data integrity for inventory planning and purchasing fields
Work effectively in inventory and purchasing screens in SAP
With Commodity Manager; participate in some negotiation of contracts with suppliers
Manage purchasing and inventory planning of assigned commodities
Responsible for maintaining inventory according to stated goals of levels and/or turns
Responsible for the processing of defective items as needed
Responsible for the effective implementation of ECO’s of items assigned
Co-responsibility for satisfactory supplier metrics with Commodity Manager of assigned commodities
Work with other operations groups and suppliers to resolve material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions
Serve as a resource to help others understand SAP Purchasing functionality
Participate in cross functional process improvement teams as assigned
Work with Order Management to determine lead times and plan customer order satisfaction dates when Confirmation date is unacceptable
Work with other operations groups to identify new processes to reduce inventory and waste
Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor
What Do You Need?
Required
Bachelor's degree in either Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or similar degree
Desired
EMinimum of 1 year of experience in Supply Chain Management, i.e. purchasing and or planning
Experience with ERP computer systems such as SAP or Oracle
APICS certification

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $62,000 - $68,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
