The primary purpose of the Buyer ensures an uninterrupted supply of quality materials that meet targets for cost, inventory, and supplier management goals. Coordinate’s activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, in a timely and cost-effective manner. Maintains professional relationships with the program management team, production personnel, and vendors in a time urgent, demanding position.  Generates purchase orders to support scheduled production activities; coordinates materials and production to meet customer demand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the purchasing of “non-inventory” items at the Tampa plant.  This includes but not limited to: maintenance supplies, spare and replacement parts, consumable tooling, operating supplies, safety supplies, hand tools, non-maintenance and hardware items, office supplies, housekeeping and janitorial supplies, and any other miscellaneous items the plant may require. Generate Purchase orders for “inventory items” from demand and track order upon receipt. (Including status/tracking, emailing/communication, PO updates (pricing, surcharges, tax, etc.) Maintain Approved Supplier List (Update with appropriate documentation, review and seek approvals, and complete credit applications) Attend and Lead Supplier meetings, teleconferences, etc. Process various Reports and communicate with functional teams Evaluate and select vendors based on key factors such as price, quality, delivery, discount terms, service after the sale, and other criteria.  Obtain oral and written quotes, process requisitions and issue purchase orders, and review orders for completeness and accuracy. Ensure full compliance with all state and federal tax laws as well as all company policies and procedures.  Prepare and submit tax exemption certificates as needed.  Make sure all required documentation is complete and up to date. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, plant personnel, upper management, production schedulers, outside contractors, visitors, and auditors. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum

High School Diploma with 1-2 years’ experience in purchasing Ability to read, write, and understand English.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and vendors. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations and tax laws. 

Preferred

 Bachelor’s Degree with three to five years of experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment. Government procurement experience. General Job Requirements This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
