POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting production projects through the accurate and timely ordering of project related parts and equipment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists other departments on a daily basis to ensure materials/equipment is ordered and received in time to support production projectsConfers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery scheduleInterfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues with purchase itemsCopies data and compiles records and reportsPurchases all company office supplies and receives/reviews for accuracyPrepares and enters purchase orders or bid requestsContacts vendors to find out status of order and researches discrepancies with quantity and qualityJOB SCOPE:
Operates within general guidelines, but must use sound judgment and independent decision making when carrying out job responsibilities. Has the ability to influence and recommend modifying existing work processes.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
This position maintains a variety of professional relationships and must be able to determine the appropriate level of communication and interaction for various situations. The ability to effectively influence decisions through respectful interactions with others both within the operations team and outside of the team is essential in this role. The highly collaborative nature of this role requires a high frequency of daily interaction with production in order to provide the support necessary to plan and execute production activities and achieve planned results. Candidate must have a relentless desire and ability to follow through and persist in developing and maintaining materials management systems.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written for constant interaction with all departments and employee levels and outside customers.Must have the analytical ability to research problem areas and special request.Must possess excellent organizational skills.Must be a well-organized, detail and customer (internal and external) oriented self-starter.Ability to exercise sound judgment, work well independently, prioritize duties and follow through tasks to completion.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Two year degree in related field or equivalent experience with knowledge of computer applications. Solid communication and organizational skillsMinimum of five years purchasing experience preferably in a boat building environment.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shop. May be required to be in production areas. The person must be able to walk to and from job sites. The individual may be required to lift up to 20 pounds. The person may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. There may be local travel up to and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 5% of the time with notice. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
