As a Buyer III at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will have the unique opportunity to support the Division Procurement Partner in developing strategic relationships with the Indirect supply base. You will play a crucial role in improving supplier performance across factors including cost, quality and delivery, while also mitigating supply chain risk through robust contract and relationship management processes. In this role, you will take ownership of projects and have a larger remit in terms of procurement and sourcing responsibility.
Essential Functions:Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency and business performanceSet up and review supplier agreementsResolve high-level issues regarding price, quality, delivery, or paymentResearch and evaluate areas of opportunity to mitigate risk and reduce costsImprove overall procurement processes and work instructionsFoster collaborative working relationships with colleagues across different departments within the organization.Lead and support continuous improvement projectsProvide support to the Material Planning teamCreate and maintain management information reportsRelationship Management:Collaborate, negotiate, and engage with individuals and organizations involved in new projects, supplies, and initiatives.Address and communicate issues or concerns that may arise, ensuring appropriate resolution.Support product change requests and review their impact on capacity plansBuild, maintain, and manage supplier relationshipsDevelop close working relationships with Material Planning, Category Management, and Supplier Quality teamsSelf Management:Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental PoliciesEmbrace personal challengesDemonstrate confident and rounded thinkingBe assertive, optimistic, and open to changeBe resilient, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressureEducation / Experience:Associates Degree requiredBachelors Degree preferred5 years experience in supply chainProven strategic procurement experience, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentStrong leadership qualitiesUnderstanding of working in a regulated environmentRisk and contract management experienceAbility to contribute positively, minimize expenses, and drive operational enhancementsProject management experienceStrong technical knowledge and understanding of supply chain managementExcellent verbal and written communication skillsComputer literate, including advanced Excel skillsWorking Conditions:Works in an office environment with infrequent travel requirements.Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $70,000.00–$85,001.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
