Position Summary

The Buyer & Planner is responsible for master scheduling and buying of parts and supply planning of assigned products. You will own purchase orders to meet Customer delivery requirements and when necessary, expedite product to maintain the ultimate level of customer service.

Duties Identify prospective suppliers, analyze and determine capabilities.  Release & monitor purchase orders to suppliers in order to maintain material flow. Expedite where needed.  Collaborate with AP and receiving on Supplier Invoice Management and inventory control processes.  Works with Supply Chain Manager to develop short and long term purchase plans for materials and services in area of responsibility.  Engage in negotiations with vendors on pricing, delivery, service, payment terms and quality as required and within limitations imposed by purchasing procedures.  Analyze suppliers for financial health and stability of the Company. Monitor overall Supplier Risk profiles and changes to risk volatility.  Support STERIS new product initiatives including making supplier recommendations, coordinating supplier selection on new products and participate on new product development teams as required.  Supplier performance management to Department and Supplier facing KPIs (OTD, Quality, Price, DPO, etc).  Work to Manage Supplier relationships in line with STERIS Values and Business Priorities.  Ensure all Supplier facing legal documents are up-to-date and compliant.  Optimize Replenishment methods, Supplier Lead times and box sizes of material to optimize inventory levels and Customer Delivery.  Leverage and update ERP systems to ensure Supplier and Item information, such as lead time, is maintained and accurate.  Work to purchase materials at the best total landed cost for STERIS, understanding all aspects of the inbound material cost to acquire.  Basic Microsoft knowledge (Excel).  Develop procedures to resolve trending errors thereby preventing recurrences.  Identify opportunities for, develop, and implement continuous improvement activities internally and with Suppliers to impact overall purchasing department's quality, cost, and delivery initiatives, Update Departmental standard work as needed.  Required Experience Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, or related field.  Three (3) years of experience in procurement.  OR High School Diploma/GED plus Thirteen (13) years of planning/supply chain experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree. Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel.  Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) and Master Planning.  Preferred Experience Oracle experience, preferred.  Experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment, preferred.  Certification in related field (APICS) or (CPIM), strongly preferred.  Skills Analytical Skills Attention to Detail and Accuracy Skills Communication Skills Decision Making Problem Solving Continuous Improvement/Innovation Negotiation Skills Work Schedule This is a hybrid schedule opportunity based in Mentor, OH.  The schedule is 3 days/week onsite, 2 days/week remote.  Up to 25% domestic travel.
