Position Description
This position is responsible for the complete purchasing cycle particularly for a specific product group that includes planning, purchase order processing, cost savings and assisting in inventory management strategies process to insure the highest level of performance from AAES processes and end products.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Safety-minded in all work activities; suggest and recommend safety initiatives; committed to safe work habits, maintaining work is organized and aligned with 5S. Plan and procure inventory items to maintain stock levels to support business. Maintain adequate stock levels while assisting the company in achieving inventory goals. Problem-solve and supply information relating to purchasing and receiving; must develop good working knowledge of ERP. Manage inventory, levels, schedules and availability of selected items, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules. Interface with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department and supervisors on materials status and production planning issues. Review inventory discrepancies to identify root causes and either recommend corrective actions to appropriate personnel or enter inventory transactions in ERP. Develop and maintain inventory reports that drives material replenishment across product groups and perform analysis on an as-needed basis. Leverage ERP, DDMRP, Power BI reports and other systems to execute day to day inventory control, to consistently achieve fill rates while minimizing excess inventory. Continuous inventory review. Verify on-hand against ERP and lead time. Weekly follow-up of past due orders with suppliers. Assist in cost savings initiatives and supplier rationalization. Help develop and reinforce proper inventory practices. Other tasks as needed or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills, and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the Buyer/Planner role:
Must have experience using ERP and MRP systems and applications. Must have experience with all Microsoft Office applications, including Power BI. Strong systems/process orientation with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers. Excellent project management and follow-up skills.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor’s 4-year degree, preferable in Engineering, Management, or Supply Chain related courses. A minimum of two years of experience in Material Buyer/Planner in manufacturing setting.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Exposure to intermediate/loud noise is expected when working in the manufacturing environment.
