In this dynamic and complex role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for performing scheduling and purchasing functions to support our make-to-order manufacturing operations. The Buyer/Planner will work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, and sales, to evaluate and adjust the production schedule to meet customer delivery requirements and utilize production capacity efficiently. #LI-SL1 A Day In The Life + Ability to follow purchasing policies and procedures + Work to understand processes and bill of materials to have a working knowledge of what materials need to be sourced. + Manage relationships with personnel in all departments to understand purchasing needs. + Review requisitions for errors and communicate effectively with requisitioners for proper material and price. + Review MRP reports and create purchase orders as required + Ability to communicate effectively with purchasing group as well as suppliers + Ensure competitive pricing and obtain quotes where necessary according to policy + Work with suppliers on current lead times and adjust MRP as necessary + Work with scheduling to ensure proper levels of inventory + Assist with Physical Inventory preparation and counts. + Work with receiving and accounts payable to reconcile errors and invoice issues + Assist with inventory cycle counts when necessary. + Assist and lead cost reduction efforts + Work with Quality and Suppliers to resolve issues with Non-conforming materials + Capacity to handle multiple vendors/priorities with minimal supervision + Performs other duties and or assignments as assigned by manager What will help you thrive in this role? + High School Diploma or GED + Experience in purchasing and production planning in a manufacturing environment + Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiations + Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment while having a positive attitude + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems; Syspro would be beneficial + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
