Job Title: C++ Software Developer

Job Description

The successful candidate will be joining an agile software development team in the Telemetry Control Unit (TCU) organization. We are an energetic team that works on a variety of features providing functionality that impacts end customer experience. We're a collaborative group focused on developing high-quality, robust software for vehicle TCU. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a critical component of our system while working with a skilled and supportive team.

ResponsibilitiesSystem Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Actively monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for our system. Proactively identify, triage, and resolve performance issues and outliers using log analysis (kernel, syslog, logcat, app logs) and effective problem-solving techniques. Develop and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.Warranty Support: Collaborate with the team to investigate warranty claims, performing initial assessments and coordinating with subject matter experts as needed.Build System & Tooling: Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of our build environment, including configuration management and tooling. This involves proficiency in shell/Python scripting and ideally, experience with Yocto Bitbake.Software Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance and robust C/C++ applications within a Linux environment. This includes adhering to coding standards, collaborating with engineers, and participating in code reviews.Essential Skills2+ years of POSIX development experience on Linux, including familiarity with key APIs (e.g., pthreads, sockets, signal handling).Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming and shell/Python scripting.Experience with Git and Repo version control systems.Experience with debugging and profiling tools (gdb/coredump, valgrind, syslog, dmesg, logcat).Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with the Yocto Bitbake build system.Experience with RAM dump procedures.Experience with build systems (e.g., CMake, Make).Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., gtest, ptest, c-unit).Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).Experience with specific Linux distributions (Ubuntu).Work Environment

This role requires working 5 days per week on-site in Ottawa. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team environment, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and tools to develop high-quality software for vehicle TCU.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $65.00/hr.
