Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Part-time Consultation and Liaison Attending Psychiatrist to the Behavioral Health group at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx. NCB is a 457-bed community hospital providing quality care in a friendly and setting. This facility provides a range of services, and is known for its outstanding Behavioral Health, Women’s Health, Primary Care, Pediatric, Geriatric and Specialty Ambulatory services. North Central Bronx has a reputation for its devotion to the needs of its patients and has created programs tailored to provided dedicated care to the community it serves. The department of Psychiatry has 3 Adult Inpatient Units, a satellite CPEP, a Psychiatry Consultation Liaison service, a Partial Hospital Program, an Outpatient Department, and an ACT team. The C/L service treats an extremely broad and fascinating spectrum of conditions, reflected by the very diverse ethnic and socioeconomic population that the medical center serves. There are opportunities for additional paid sessional work, but there is no mandatory on-call requirement.

Responsibilities:

The CL Psychiatrist will have the responsibility for providing consultations referred by the medical, surgical, pediatric and obstetric services. He/She will be assessing patients’ mental health status and diagnosing disorders Providing crisis intervention as necessary Documenting patient progress, developing and implementing patient treatment plans This position includes responsibility for teaching and supervision of psychologists, psychology interns, medical and PA students He/she will participate in ethics meetings, court hearings, and multidisciplinary rounds. He/she will participate in activities related to clinical care and documentation of care, performance improvement, regulatory compliance and student education. He/she will report to the Chair and/or Vice Chair of the Department.
