We are seeking a skilled Cable Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing motor cables, providing technical support, and ensuring our products meet industry standards. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our projects and the satisfaction of our customers.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Design and Development: Create technical specifications and designs for harnessed cable assemblies suitable for high-speed digital communications and PWM motor control, ensuring sufficient immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI).Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross functional motor/drive design teams on product system evaluation tests, design reviews and supplier meetings as necessary.Customer Collaboration: Work closely with both internal and external customers to ensure that cable designs meet specifications regarding quality, cost, and performance. Prepare timely quotes, proposals, and documentation for new projects.Compliance Support: Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure adherence to UL, CE, RoHS, REACH requirementsManufacturing Support: Provide support for the manufacturing of motors and cables, assisting with technical issues as needed.Troubleshooting: Identify issues and execute root cause and corrective action (RCCA) processes to resolve technical challenges.Testing and Analysis: Conduct tests and analysis on the signal integrity of high-speed digital communications affected by PWM noise. Testing may include using a dynamometer for motor evaluation, requiring assembly and disassembly of motors.Documentation: Create and implement comprehensive test plans and reports, ensuring both informal and formal documentation is maintained.Participation in Events: Engage in product evaluation testing activities, design review meetings, and supplier meetings as required.Minimum Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Experience: 2+ years of work experience with cables, electric motors, and drives is preferred.Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and experience with 3D solid modeling and ERP systems is preferred.Measurement Experience: Prior experience with complex AC differential-mode and common-mode impedance measurements is preferred.EMI Design Knowledge: Experience with grounding and shielding designs to minimize EMI is preferred.Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a multi-functional design team.Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills for regular interaction with internal and external customers and suppliers.Restrictions imposed by federal export control laws may limit this job opportunity to candidates who are a ‘U.S. Person’, which includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, U.S. permanent residents, individuals granted asylum in the United States, and refugees in the United States.
