Cable Splicer Helper-Accredited

We are presently seeking to fill a Cable Splicer Helper-Accredited position in the Buffalo, NY area, at the starting hourly rate of $31.57. In addition, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, tuition assistance and more.
 
 

About the Position: 
Under direct supervision in a cable crew, to handle material, tools and tackle; to do any type of manual work required; and to assist cable splicers in their work as required. You will be expected to respond to emergencies and work during adverse weather conditions. And perform all other underground work involving construction, maintenance, repair and routine inspection. 
 


 
Job Qualifications:

Must have High School Diploma or GED Must have valid drivers license CDL A is preferred (Or the ability to obtain one within 6 Months) Should have mental and physical ability to develop into a splicer. Must pass physical abilities examination. Must pass validated aptitude test. Proven history of working safely with a general understanding of applicable OSHA guidelines. Able to work at elevated heights and enclosed space environments Have ability to work with a small group of splicers, good safe work ethic, good communication skills and commitment to customer service. In order to be considered an accredited candidate for a position in the Cable Splicer job series, candidates must possess, as determined solely by management, a two-year degree or certificate in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology or Electric Construction/ Maintenance from an accredited college or university or equivalent as determined by management. 

 

NOTE: This will be awarded in accordance with the Accredited Minimum Qualifications MOA dated June 8, 2017. 

 

NOTE: After 6 months of satisfactory performance of a Cable Splicer Helper the individual will progress to a Cable Splicer A.

Salary:

$31.57/Hr

 

 

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

 

 

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union.  Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
