Cable Technician- 1
Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Cable Technician to join our team. The Technician will be responsible for handling CAT5 and CAT6 low voltage cables, installing them on mounted trusses, j-hooks, and strut materials to connect to servers within a data center. This role requires working inside the plant, often on elevated work surfaces such as ladders, scissor lifts, and overhead fall protection. Key Responsibilities: + Install work area outlets for floor (e.g., monument), modular furniture (e.g., surface mount box), and wall (e.g., box eliminator). + Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other methods and route cable through modular furniture. + Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables, determine length, slack, and label cables. + Suspend and support cables correctly using cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze. + Build closets by mounting and installing backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware, and other equipment. + Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables as required. + Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cables through sleeves and core penetrations. + Terminate low-voltage devices such as CCTV and alarms. + Complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and others as required. + Adhere to and participate in all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations. Qualifications: + Experience with CAT5 and CAT6 low voltage cable installation. + Ability to work on elevated surfaces and use ladders, scissor lifts, and overhead fall protection. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Ability to work long hours and adapt to project demands. + Knowledge of industry quality and safety standards. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
