Cable Technician
Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cable Technician to install, maintain, and repair cable systems for our residential and commercial clients. The ideal candidate will have strong technical abilities, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. This role involves working with a variety of cable systems, including data, voice, and video, while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. Apply today for immediate consideration!! Key Responsibilities: + Install, terminate, and test data, voice, and video cables, including fiber optic and coaxial cables. + Diagnose and troubleshoot cable system issues, including signal loss, connectivity problems, and hardware malfunctions. + Configure and install network hardware, such as routers, switches, and modems. + Ensure all cable systems are installed according to building codes, industry standards, and client specifications. + Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal system performance. + Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to complete installations. + Conduct site surveys to determine the best placement for cable runs and hardware. + Educate clients on system operation and provide technical support as needed. + Document work performed, including system configurations, repairs, and maintenance logs. + Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols when working with electrical equipment and in various environments. Requirements Qualifications: + High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training is a plus. + Proven experience as a Cable Technician or in a related field. + Knowledge of cable systems, including CAT5/CAT6, fiber optics, and coaxial cables. + Familiarity with tools and equipment used for cable installation and testing (e.g., cable testers, signal meters). + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Excellent communication and customer service abilities. + Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. + Physical ability to work in tight spaces, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred Skills: + Certifications such as BICSI Technician, ETA Fiber Optics Installer, or similar. + Experience with structured cabling and data center environments. + Knowledge of industry standards, including ANSI/TIA/EIA and NEC codes. + Familiarity with network configurations and IP-based systems.
