AWE is currently recruiting for a CAD (Computer Aided Design) Library Manager to maintain a high-quality, efficient, and standardised library of models and parts to support the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) design and engineering needs of current and future programme activities.
Working within the Warhead Applied Engineering team, the library manager will play a crucial role in creating, managing, and maintaining the AWE PLM CAD libraries to support the UK CASD (Continuous At Sea Deterrence).
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 3D CAD skills looking to further their career.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with experience of:
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)Application and knowledge of Material selectionProven experience in a Design Office environmentProficient user of MS ExcelAn ability to work with a range of stakeholders (technical & non-technical)We do need you to have the following:
A degree, HNC/HND or an equivalent vocational qualification, in an engineering discipline supported by considerable practical experienceExperience in using Computer Aided Design systemsExperience and knowledge in Mechanical Engineering Design to produce fully defined engineering 3D models, drawings and associated specificationsExperience using PLM and CAD systems. Siemens Teamcenter and NX particularly desirable although further training will be provided if neededExperience, knowledge and application of British, ISO and other industry standardsPractical experience of machine tools and manufacturing processes
Whilst not to be considered a check list, responsibilities of the role will include:
Creating, updating, and maintaining a comprehensive CAD library of parts, symbols, and modelsConducting regular audits of the CAD library to ensure accuracy and completenessImplementing and enforcing quality control measures to maintain high standardsSupporting CAD standards and best practices across the organisationProviding support to users of the CAD libraryManaging the implementation of updates within the library, following PLM proceduresMaintenance of design historyCollaborating with Senior Engineers in scoping, planning, and estimating future activitiesApplying the practical use of engineering methods, tools, and processesTechnical leadership/mentoring of junior staff, apprentices & graduatesMaintaining and promote high standards in ESH (Environmental, safety & health), security and qualityWe encourage you to apply promptly to avoid disappointment if applications are high and the role therefore closes.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
