CAD Designer
**Description** **General program information and/or position overview.** The Maritime Systems Division currently has an opening or a CAD Designer to work in our Long Beach, MS office. The Maritime Systems Division develops and deploys advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community, other governmental agencies, and commercial clients. This position is responsible for supporting the design, development, installation, and maintenance of sub-surface, surface, and land-based systems. **Primary Responsibilities.** + Create and modify detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD for mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical, and structural systems and subsystems. + Support the design, development, installation, and maintenance of sub-surface, surface, and land-based systems. + Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Taking design input from multiple engineering disciplines. + Perform tasks to completion semi-independently after receiving technical direction. + Perform and verify data migrations into Windchill PLM. + Serve as main point of contact for Windchill PLM designer role. **Basic Qualifications.** + Associate’s degree in drafting, computer aided design, mechanical engineering, or aerospace engineering. + 2+ years prior relevant experience. + Experience with the SolidWorks software suite + US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance + Experience reading schematics and drawings. + Must be self-motivated, self-sufficient, and able to switch from one task to another at a moment’s notice. + Must be detailed oriented. + Must work well with others and be able to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions. + Can interact with customers, peers, and supervisors with professionalism. + Average physical mobility to move around an office and lab environment, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. **Preferred Qualifications.** + Bachelor’s degree in drafting, computer aided design, mechanical engineering, or aerospace engineering. + Prior experience with unmanned vehicles, underwater cables/connectors, acoustic sensors, and launch and recovery subsystems. + Prior experience working on at-sea vessels for extended durations (1 week or longer). + Prior experience with designing for a maritime environment. + ISO manufacturing experience. + Sheet metal and welding design. + Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA). + Experience with AutoCAD. + Experience with Windchill PLM. + Active Security Clearance. + General construction experience. + Ability and willingness to travel outside the local area 2-5 times a year. **Original Posting Date:** 2025-01-16 While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above. **Pay Range:** Pay Range $39,650.00 - $71,675.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
