Job Summary:
As CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Drafter, primary responsibility is to transform initial rough sketches, designs, and specifications into detailed technical drawings using specialized software. Collaborates closely with engineers, production managers, and designers to produce accurate and precise drawings that serve as blueprints for production or manufacturing projects. Ensures that designs are feasible, functional, and meet all necessary standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drafting: Utilize CAD software to create 2D and 3D drawings based on project requirements and specifications. Convert conceptual designs into detailed technical drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details.
2. Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand project objectives, clarify design requirements, and incorporate feedback into drafts. Communicate effectively to ensure alignment throughout the design process.
3. Interpretation: Interpret rough sketches, specifications, and other documentation to accurately translate design concepts into comprehensive drawings. Ensure that drawings adhere to industry standards, codes, and regulations.
4. Precision and Accuracy: Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all drawings. Verify dimensions, measurements, and specifications to ensure consistency and correctness.
5. Revision and Modification: Review drawings and incorporate revisions or modifications as needed throughout the design process. Update drawings to reflect changes and improvements based on feedback and project developments.
6. Documentation: Prepare and maintain documentation related to drawings, including annotations, labels, and specifications. Organize and manage drawing files and databases to facilitate easy access and retrieval.
7. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks on drawings to identify errors, discrepancies, or potential issues. Ensure that drawings meet quality standards and are suitable for their intended purpose.
8. Time Management: Manage workload effectively to meet project deadlines and milestones. Prioritize tasks and allocate time efficiently to ensure timely completion of drafts and deliverables.
Qualifications: • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vault & Autodesk Inventor) and related tools.
• Strong technical drafting skills, including the ability to create detailed drawings from conceptual designs.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, construction techniques, and industry standards.
• Familiarity with architectural or engineering terminology and practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
