Northrop Grumman Middletown supports the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) building and deploying high-fidelity submarine simulation, training and analysis products for the US Navy. We are looking for a CAD Designer to join our hardware team to develop supporting documentation for these builds and deployments.
Job Responsibilities: Design, build, and deploy rack-based IT systems, operator consoles, and simulated/emulated equipment. Install and troubleshoot lab IT equipment to support development infrastructure. Produce Level 2 CAD drawings of newly designed and deployed systems.
Qualified applicants should have experience with CAD and IT systems consisting of rack mounted hardware, Networking, video extension equipment and system cabling.
Qualified applicants will perform the following tasks:
Provide mechanical design for rack-based systems to ensure safety, stability, ease of repair, reliability and durability.Develop CAD rack design and interconnect diagrams.Fabricate and install system interconnect cabling for communications, video, power, fiber, audio, networking and serial interfacesAssist in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex IT systems.Assist remote system installations of equipment to support training systems (10-20% travel)Specific experience elements sought are further described below.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or other related field and 5-years of experience: or in lieu of degree 9 years of relevant experienceProficiency with Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint.Proficient with AutoCADMechanical Assembly – Use of basic hand tools to fabricate IT racks, custom consoles and onsite system installation. Able to lift up to 50lbs to support equipment installationsBasic knowledge of interfaces and networking mediums including but not limited to Ethernet 1G/10/25G wiring (CAT5e, CAT6, CAT7, fiber, SFP) and serial cabling.Ability to decipher and install complex IT system from a system line drawingBasic knowledge of electronics pertaining to computer wiring and assemblyAbility to support on-site installations at trainer sites (10-20%)Ability to obtain a Secret ClearancePreferred Qualifications:
Secret ClearanceProficient in Visio to support system designsExperience with Naval Systems, particularly submarine systemsSalary Range: $67,300.00 - $112,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
