The CAD TECHNICIAN will review CAD drawings/part prints, create CAD drawings, manage plate inventory, estimating production times, assist in production scheduling and program CNC equipment using tools (but not limited to) such as AutoCAD, ProNest, Primecut plasma cutting software, Softec waterjet software and Shop Data Systems.  The CNC programs should create the best part yields and should process plates in a time efficient manner.  Would also be responsible for managing excel spread sheets, cad files, assisting the sales force and filtering data.

 

Responsibilities Manipulate field measurements per customers and sales orders.Develops detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.Coordinates with and consults other employees to design, layout or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.Reviews and analyzes specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.Computes mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.Allocate materials to provide the highest yield, utilizing remnants when possible.Develop understanding of multiple nesting systems in order to program for multiple cutting machines.As required, visits field to verify dimensions and designs. Meets sales representative to determine requirements, coaching the sales representative through the discussion to glean all the information needed. Creates a preliminary design and submits to sales representative for approval or revision.Follows all company policies, procedures and safety rules. Conducts in a professional, ethical and courteous manner as a representative of SSS Steel at all times.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education and Experience:
