Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/ . The Computer-Aided Drug Design Group in La Jolla, CA, is seeking a current PhD student for a 10–12 week summer research internship. In this role, the intern will use computational methods to investigate novel strategies for modeling ternary complex formation, with a focus on understanding targeted protein degradation for disease treatment. The intern will work alongside a computational chemistry scientist and assist in experimental design, execution, and analysis. This work will be performed in close collaboration with medicinal chemistry coworkers and the intern will be encouraged to discuss ideas and share results with the team. The intern will be a member of a supportive and respectful environment where they will be able to learn and develop new skills while making a difference. **QUALIFICATIONS** + Currently enrolled in a PharmD or PhD program in computational chemistry or a related discipline. + Experience with molecular dynamics simulations is required, and familiarity with advanced sampling methods is preferred (e.g., Desmond/Schrödinger, Amber, NAMD). + Familiarity with targeted protein degradation (TPD) is preferred. + Experience with commercial computational chemistry packages (e.g., Schrödinger, MOE, OpenEye, knime workflows) and their applications in drug discovery (e.g., protein-protein docking, virtual screening, AI/ML, cheminformatics) is preferred. + Proficiency in python or any other scripting language is preferred + Candidates should be self-motivated, possess strong interpersonal and analytical skills, and be eager to share fresh perspectives and tackle new challenges.
