Metrology Specialist – This role is focused on supporting internal metrology related activities to ensure product conformity with internal, industry, and customer requirements. Responsibilities to include, but not limited to the following:
Create metrology programs. Lead validation and verification activities through MSA studies.
Lead qualification / verification and troubleshooting of advanced metrology measurement equipment. For example, but not limited to CMMs, contact and non-contact optical equipment, and automated inspection systems.
Lead and administer calibration process including, but not limited to, coordination of calibration services, internal calibrations, troubleshooting calibration non-conformities (OOT Events), maintain calibration certifications, etc.
Leads and facilitates internal training on metrology equipment and operation.
Supports new product development and design for manufacturing activities.
Core Specialist Responsibilities:
Support or lead all relevant quality activities associated with manufacturing and inspection processes, procedures, and inspection requirements.
Participate in internal audits as well as support and participate in third party and customer audits as required. Follow up on post-audit activities, including reports and corrective actions.
Support Lean and Six Sigma improvement activities by participating in teams, collecting and analyzing data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring quality and process related documentation is updated.
Create, maintain, and use electronic data systems (SAP, QDS, MES, Gage Pack, etc.) to ensure accurate data. Support and maintain documentation and record keeping for the Quality Management System.
Interpret customer and GTC drawings, specifications, and identify necessary key characteristics for inspection. Support or lead tracking of in-process product issues and performance metrics as required for trend analysis and driving continuous improvement.
Support Greene Tweeds QMS customer satisfaction and product conformity by active participation in 8D’s and customer corrective actions including evaluation of data and generating summary reports.
Support transfer of work and IQOQPQ activities as required.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education: HS Diploma required, Associate degree or above preferred.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant Quality experience.
Knowledge of Quality procedures, inspection techniques, specifications & drawings within a manufacturing environment.
Good communication skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally required.
Understanding of LSS tools & manufacturing fundamentals a plus.
ISO/AS Quality Management System experience preferred.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite - Word and Excel.
Proficiency in ERP systems – SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards or similar.
ASQ certification such as CQI, CQT, CQA, or similar a plus.
May require GD&T, CMM programming, optical equipment programming and/or NDT capabilities.
Knowledge and use of standard measuring devices.
Action-oriented – ability to develop and execute tactical plans, working independently as well as coaching site functions; Acts with a sense of urgency and takes well-reasoned, proactive action when goals are not being met
Strong situational adaptability – has the ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and help foster necessary response across the organization
