The role includes evaluating participants' needs, providing individualized counseling and advising on college and career planning, financial aid, and application processes. The candidate will also deliver workshops on topics such as self-esteem, test-taking, and college admissions, and assist with FAFSA and scholarship renewals. Additionally, the position oversees follow-up services, monitoring alumni progress, offering mentorship, and coordinating referrals while serving as a liaison between the project director, schools, parents, and the community. Responsibilities: + Actively recruit participants and conduct outreach activities within the migrant communities. + Evaluate participants’ needs through applicant file assessment and personal interviews. + Provide counseling and advising for the CAMP program application process. + Conduct interviews, meetings and seminars with parents, teachers, counselors, and referral agents. + Provide individual and group advising and support regarding career and college choices, admission requirements, and financial aid opportunities. + Present financial aid, self-esteem, test taking, college entrance, and career workshops. + Assist participants with renewal of FAFSA, scholarship, internship, and other application processes. + Oversee the Follow-Up Services Program-monitor the academic progress of project alumni, provide academic mentoring and guidance, and provide on or off campus referrals as deemed necessary. + Act as a liaison with the project director, target schools, parents, and communities served. + This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Necessary Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Social Sciences or related field. + One (1) year of recruiting, advising or education experience. + Success in overcoming circumstances such as low-income, first generation, disadvantaged, etc. with priority to individuals knowledgeable about specific migrant needs and communities served. + Good rapport with disadvantaged and nontraditional student populations. + Skilled in admissions and financial aid requirements and the use of standardized tests. + Strong advising/counseling, marketing, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: + Master’s degree + Two (2) years of recruiting, advising or education experience. + Bi-lingual skills.
