Required Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) One (1) year’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements One (1) year’s working experience using and supporting microcomputers Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree or 60 college hours Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Creston and Extron Equipment Knowledge of advanced computer graphics and computerized systems Knowledge of computer networking Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Special Instructions Summary This is a part-time position, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week. Position Information Job Title Campus Support Technician I Posting Number P003719 Position Type Part-Time Position Status Part Time Grant Funded No Grant Funding Source N/A Category Computer Services Class Code 46 Starting Pay $16.55 Department DT Campus Support Services Job Summary Reporting to the Coordinator of Campus Support Services, the Campus Support Technician responds to staff requests for technology equipment, support and supplies, performs minor repairs on equipment and assists with inventory. This position produces instructional and promotional videos at the campus level using digital media and functions as a liaison to faculty, staff, and students with technology needs. The position troubleshoots and repairs technology equipment, as well as installs, modifies, and makes minor repairs to microcomputer hardware and software systems and provides technical assistance/training to system users. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Essential Performance Requirements* Completes scheduled technology setups; ensures equipment is in good operating condition Ensures correct software, firmware, and updates are done to the integrated systems Provides system testing and troubleshooting expertise on high‐end A/V integrated control systems (i.e., Extron/Crestron) Responds to emergency calls for assistance/Performs repairs/adjustments on equipment Responds to faculty and administrative requests for technology support; provides AV orientation to faculty and clients using the technology so they can utilize it effectively Assists with maintaining inventory of all campus technology equipment Assists in the production of digital media classroom instructional materials and marketing videos for the campus as well as maintenance of all associated documentation in the pre‐production, production, and post‐production stages of the video process (i.e., familiar with Adobe CS6/Premie, etc.) Assists with the installation and preparation of technology for events Assists with equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and research Responsible for maintaining the schedule of campus events related to technology Assists the district Video Support team and the Video Conferencing team as needed Inspects microcomputer equipment and reads order sheet listing user requirements to prepare microcomputer for delivery Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on user’s premises Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation Instructs user in use of equipment, software, and manuals Answers client’s inquiries in person and via telephone concerning systems operation Diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems Assists with scheduling requests for equipment and software for classroomsService Excellence Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC) Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
