Thanks to an expanding project portfolio Mott MacDonald Canada has a new opportunity for a Canada Tunnels Team Lead to join our dynamic and growing team working on iconic infrastructural projects, locally, nationally, and globally.

 

As the Canada Tunnels Team Lead, your responsibilities will include:
 

Demonstrating behaviors that promote our Purpose and align with our PRIDE values  Continuing to develop a collaborative and respectful culture that encourages excellence, innovation, and learning  Develop and implement strategies to drive growth and improve performance of the Canada Tunnels TeamProviding pastoral care for staff – focusing on health, safety and wellbeingOrganizing tasks to balance the needs of people, projects and clients, and delegating tasks effectively when needed  Motivating colleagues to achieve their goals and objectives and providing constructive feedback to help them improveAdvising on compensation, recognition and development opportunities for staff in consultation with the Group Lead  Advising on team structure, and actively mentoring, coaching, and planning for successionManaging the utilization of resources in coordination with the Resource Manager (short-term and long-term), including planning and forecasting for critical project and opportunity resourcingCoordinating with the Group Lead to plan and lead the hiring of new staff – identifying gaps in the team, filling them, and planning for growth in alignment with the Regional strategic objectivesVisible leadership with internal and external representation Winning work – working with Strategic Market and Account Leads to pursue opportunities, supporting Business Development as necessaryDoing work – delivering innovative design solutions for various underground elements using current design standards and guidelines by drawing on a range of geotechnical and structural skills, including: tunnels, shafts, caverns, support of excavation, and other mined structures

 

Candidate Specifications

A strong academic background, with a Bachelor’s level degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Structural Engineering (a Master’s degree would be considered an asset)15+ years of relevant industry / project experience Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) status with your provincial governing body  Prior experience in a team or resource leadership role, demonstrating people related responsibilities and increasing levels of responsibilities over time Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; able to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and clients and nurture the development of junior staffStrong technical skills associated with the design of tunnels and underground structuresPassion for the application of digital tools and technology to develop innovative design solutionsAbility and enthusiasm for supervising the work of others, including check and approval of key deliverablesGained project management skills and demonstrable technical lead and collaborative capabilities
