Canadian Business Unit Director (BUD) – Buildings Engineering

Job Description

Arcadis is seeking a Business Unit Director (BUD) – Buildings Engineering for the Places Business Area in Canada. 

This position reports to the Business Area Director and is in Canada.

Role Accountabilities: 

As a Business Unit Director, you will be responsible for profitably growing the respective business unit presence in country in line with GBA Places strategy and financial targets. Responsibilities include: 

Implementing the Places strategy:

Lead the business unit with ultimate accountability for P&L performance, service quality delivery within the unit; develop and oversee the implementation of the strategy to ensure service quality delivery, service excellence and profitable growth within the unit, to support the delivery of the line of business objectives.Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team of senior specialists by recruiting, setting objectives and reviewing performance to ensure staff are developed, driven and have the necessary skills to deliver the program objectives.Develop and implement the business plan for the unit and ensure the team understand it, and the role that they play in its achievement with focus on quality, global delivery, integration of GEC, and the provision of context and clarity.Lead the identification and targeting of clients through the delivery of service excellence to deliver growth in organic revenue in the business unit.

Build strong relationships and create successful teams: 

Develop enduring relationships with clients to understand their business needs and ensure client satisfaction to improve retention and deliver organic revenue growth.Coach and mentor discipline managers and service managers to ensure all projects are set up for success and appropriate governance is adhered to, with the goal of improved client satisfaction.Lead the identification of talent in the business unit in both technical capability and sales and promote career development by directing individuals who are identified, to the appropriate development programs.Lead decisions on resource utilization within the business unit and maintain the integrity of the unit composition and pyramid management structure to enable resource optimization.Lead the identification and management of risk in service delivery and ensure compliance with governance processes in the business unit to lead to service excellence and client satisfaction.Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the business unit’s clients and the market to identify key trends and emerging opportunities.Develop relationships throughout Arcadis to foster cooperation and to maximize opportunities to cross-sell and trade-up.Create a safe and respectful working environment where our people can grow, perform, and succeed with a focus on Health and Wellbeing and the identification of talent to promote career development.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience: 

You should be a licensed Professional Engineer or Arcchitect in Canada and have at least 10+ years of experience leading and growing a significant business function within a professional services firm. You will be able to inspire multi-disciplinary teams around a common purpose and demonstrate significant leadership capability.

You will have a high level of intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility and flexibility. You will bring excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization in particular senior levels.  You are an excellent communicator and skilled at building relationships.

You have the technical knowledge to recognize and manage risk in running a design led Business Unit.  In addition, you have well developed commercial skills, with a sound knowledge of the industry and demonstrated entrepreneurial behavior.
