Cancer Center Director

Job Summary

Serve as the Director for Cancer Center, offering Medical Oncology/Hematology and Chemotherapy/Infusion Services. The incumbent is responsible for the planning, organizing, staffing, leading and organizational management of the services and programs offered to the community.

 

Responsibilities

• Advocate and lead initiatives to continually improve the continuum of ambulatory services necessary to meet the Oncology/Hematology needs of the Community and Region.

• Translate CAMC Health System, Inc. Corporate goals into the daily and strategic work plan of the Center.

• Ensure the Center has the appropriate compliment of staff, training and resources to meet the needs of the Community and Region.

• Continually strive to deliver high quality, patient-centered care in a safe, effective, timely, efficient and equitable manner.

• Collaborate with Center Physicians and Staff in creating and monitoring Quality Improvement/Performance Improvement programs.

• Collaborate with Ambulatory Administration in creating and managing capital and operating budgets.

• Ensure Federal, State and Local Regulatory Compliance for all Center operations.
Effectively manage onsite components of the Revenue Cycle and continually work to improve effectiveness and accuracy.

• Continually strive to eliminate waste in the delivery of care.

• Continually strive to improve Patient Access and throughout.

• Effectively manage and improve productivity.

• Continually strive to improve patient, employee and physician satisfaction.

• Maintain designated accreditation readiness at all times.

• Collaborate with CAMC Human Resources and manage all aspects staffing in the Center including but not limited to; selection, competency validation, training, annual planning/appraisal, counseling, discipline, discharge, promotion and recognition.

• Represent CAMC in a professional and appropriate manner at all times not only in the Center but in the community as well.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Competency Statement

Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

Education 

• Master's Degree (Required) Education: Prefer master's degree in nursing or management Experience: 5-7 years management experience Substitution: May substitute bachelor's degree and 8-10 years experience for the master's degree and 5-7 years of experience.

• Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hireWithin 30 days of hire

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required) Within 1 year of hireWithin 1 year of hire
