Location: AdventHealth Daytona Beach – 301 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach, FL 32117

The role you’ll contribute:

Develops and coordinates the activities of investigational cancer trials for Florida Hospital Medical Center Cancer Institute. Coordinates with hospital and physician staff to promote the cancer research program and successfully markets research protocols to the physicians and public.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

Identifies and coordinates the prioritization and initiation of cancer research opportunities through pharmaceutical companies, NCI, OCOG, SCCC, CTSU and other sources.

Completes and ensures documentation and requirements of cancer trials are complete and conform with all requirements of the FDA, ACCC, ACOS, JCAHO and other regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Sets up processes to comply with requirements of the research protocols.

Coordinates with the physicians and hospital staff to ensure that a formal process exists for identifying and enabling cancer patients to participate in clinical research protocols.

Provides educational opportunities relative to cancer research

Educates the nursing staff to ensure they are familiar with the clinical aspects of the investigational drugs under study prior to and during the individual studies.

Ensures that the pharmacy staff is familiar with and educated in the clinical aspects of the investigational drugs under study prior to and during the individual studies.

Ensures that other involved hospital staff are familiar with and educated in the clinical aspects of the investigational drugs under study prior to and during the individual studies.

Prepares information for and successfully participates with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) in presenting information on new and ongoing research projects.

Submits individual research agreements to the corporate legal team to review, modify and execute.

Assists with development of procedures with the Finance Department regarding the handling, disposition and tracking of research monies.

Coordinates with hospital and physician staff to promote the cancer research program and successfully markets research protocols to the physicians and public through presentations, medical staff newsletters, newspapers, written correspondence, and one-on-one discussions.

Coordinates the reporting of relevant cancer research and findings.

Ensures the cancer research program complies with all aspects of the ACOS, ACCC and JCAHO and the FDA.

Responsible for communication processes relative to cancer research activities

Effectively communicates with patients and family members in education relative to cancer research.

Effectively communicates with the Ethics Committee on issues regarding cancer research.

Completes projects as requested by Administration on time, in a neat and appropriate fashion, and in a professional manner.

Actively participates on the Cancer Committee and in the Cancer Conferences.

Performs duties in a fiscally responsible manner and in accordance with budgetary requirements.

Promotes the cancer research program in achieving financial self-sufficiency.

Ensures "action items" requiring administrative, physician, or Committee approvals are forwarded to the appropriate individual on a timely basis.

Actively strives to achieve established goals and objectives.

Attends meetings as requested, arrives on time, and actively participates in discussions.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

Associate of Science degree in Nursing

Current, active State of Florida license as a Registered Nurse

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Current, valid State of Florida driver’s license

A minimum of two (2) years oncology nursing experience

Eligibility for CCRA certification

Must have knowledge of clinical research, FDA and TJC requirements, and State regulations and have strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)

Current Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification

Two (2) years in cancer investigational research trials
