Cancer Genetic Counselor
Overview The Cancer Genetic Counselor will be responsible for providing clinical cancer genetic counseling, guiding optimal genetic testing strategies based on ACMG/NSGC and NCCN guidelines, integrating genetic testing into the oncology care work flow by partnering with quality cancer genetic testing laboratories. The Cancer Genetic Counselor will be responsible for establishing and growing cancer genetic counseling services at WakeMed. The Cancer Genetic Counselor will be responsible for participating in tumor boards to identify patients at risk for hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes. The Cancer Genetic Counselor will also be responsible for developing strong collaborative relationships with the oncology team including medical, surgical, radiation and gynecological oncologists, nurses, nutritionists, behavioral health providers and social workers.
