Position Purpose:
Under the direction of the Institute for Cancer leadership, this position is accountable for providing individualized assistance to those newly diagnosed with cancer and patients in active treatment for cancer at Renown. The Cancer Nurse Navigator assesses patient needs upon initial encounter and periodically throughout navigation, matching unmet needs with appropriate services and referrals and support services. s This nurse identifies potential and realized barriers to care and facilitates referrals as appropriate to mitigate barriers , By participating in coordination of the plan of care with the multidisciplinary team she applies knowledge of clinical guidelines to assists the patient and family throughout the cancer continuum.
Nature and Scope:
This position collaborates with cancer program administration and cancer committee to develop strategies to fulfill the requirements and standards of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, NAPBC and co-leads the Center of Excellence committees (best practice committees), as applicable for the disease specialty served.. The coordinator assists in the development and performance of specialty service educational activities and program evaluation. This position assists in meeting the needs of the hospital's community in relation to cancer education, screening and prevention. Most important, this position improves the care experience of the cancer patient and their family. Other duties as requested are required.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Experience:
Three years acute care, surgical or community health nursing experience required;, oncology nursing, management and/or program development experience preferred.
License(s):
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.
Certification(s):
Current BLS certification by AHA standards required OCN preferred, will be required within
two years of hiring. ONS diagnosis specific training, if applicable, preferred will be required within two years of hire.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook,PowerPoint, Excel and Word andhave the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
