JOB SUMMARY
\nThe Cancer Registrar 2 is accountable for case-finding, and abstracting core data items that include pertinent information about the patient, the disease, and its management into an electronic system. Assists in training of registry personnel, adheres to the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) guidelines and requirements for approved programs. Complies with requirements mandated by the Texas State Department of Health Services and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirements in terms of timeliness and completeness of reporting. Conducts statistical research related to collection data.
\nSalary Range:
\nThe pay range for this position is $24.92/hr (entry-level qualifications) - $37.37/hr (highly experienced). The specific rate will depend upon the successful candidate's specific qualifications and prior experience.
\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
\n\nIdentifies cases for abstraction based on Pathology Reports, HIM Coding reports, Bill Reports, etc.\nAbstracts data from patient medical record to include patient demographics, diagnostic procedures, history and extent of disease, treatment, follow-up, physician, and other related information.\nCodes data into database in accordance with protocol requirements.\nEnters Data of potential cases for abstraction into suspense file in Registry system.\nUtilizes a variety of resources to perform follow up functions and maintains the follow up percentage as required by the American College of Surgeons.\nParticipates in continuing education programs and in-services to enhance job knowledge and skill set. Educates data collection staff on study requirements and data collection methodology\nWorks closely with Registrars and Registry Manager to ensure operational needs of the facilities are met.\nReviews data for accuracy; assembles and disseminates registry data.\nCoordinates data collection activities; implements data quality control measures\nMaintains and protects the confidentiality of patient records.\n\nKEY SUCCESS FACTORS
