Our Team:

The Thales Australia AWS business offers ship repair, maintenance and asset management / in-service support capabilities for commercial and naval ships in Australia. The business also offers the provision of docking, reticulated services and facility maintenance within Garden Island.


About the Role:
 

Are you an experienced leader in material handling and plant operations? Thales Australia is seeking a Capability Plant and Policy Manager to oversee day-to-day operations at Garden Island. This critical role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations while leading a team and developing policies aligned with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Operations Management: Oversee material handling and cranage activities, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality execution.

Policy Development & Compliance: Implement policies and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Strategic Planning & Change Management: Drive operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and change initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a high-performing team with a strong safety-first culture.

Risk & Safety Management: Identify hazards, enforce safety protocols, and act as a role model in workplace safety.

Equipment & Maintenance Oversight: Ensure proper maintenance of plant equipment and compliance with operational standards.
 

About you:

Experience in heavy industrial environments, ideally in marine operations.

Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools.

Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Certifications in Confined Space Entry, Crane Operations, Forklift, and Elevated Work Platform (EWP).
