Job Description

Position : CAPEX  Purchasing Category Manager

Organization

Function: Group Purchasing Direct report: Capex Group Portfolio Director Location: TBD

 

Mission

Contribute to definition of the strategy for Capex purchasing in line with Group and BGs’s E3 (Economic, Environment, Engagement) objectives, Corporate Industrial Management (CIM) Capex vision and Standardization Ensure the deployment and execution of this strategy in every Business Group/Country Manage all matters pertaining to Capex (new equipment/installations & upgrade of existing ones) purchasing activities worldwide, making sure that all purchases are made in a competitive way, in coherence with Nexans global purchasing strategy and policy, at lowest potential supply risk and taking into account Total Cost of Ownership.  Optimizes value creation within the category, through coordination between industrial partners and the purchasing community. Manage key supplier development by using margin levers, to ensure business continuity. Define his activity planning in compliance with the strategic investment/capex program defined by the Management Board and priorities defined by his direct report manager. Insure Purchasing Nexans Group rules and process are respected and apply (POM, GMP,…)

 

Roles and Responsabilities

 

CATEGORY MANAGEMENT

 

Contribute to define the purchasing 3-5 years strategic plan for the category (local /corporate, long term/ opportunistic, partners/preferred,…) Contribute to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) definition in line with the strategic plan, and monitor performance in the category Implement improvement action plans Contribute to define purchasing standards and indicators adapted to the category (standard contractual models, performance grid,…) Conduct purchasing risk analysis and define mitigation plans in cooperation with other functions (CSR & Environment, legal, finance,…)

 

TRANSACTIONAL PURCHASING

 

Set up a cross-functional project organization on the project he will oversee (roles and responsibilities, milestones, information sharing tool,…), to address local stakeholder needs and facilitate future implementation Challenge needs expression (redesign-to-cost, functional analysis, standardization…) Consolidate needs at the appropriate level (global, local) Support the definition of functional book of specifications (decision matrix for Request for Information/Quotation…) Define the supplier panel for consultation on the project he will oversee Conduct Requests for Information/Quotation Lead negotiations to select the best supplier (on the basis of cost breakdown, Total Cost of Ownership - TCO and risk elements) Manage contracting and follow-up (customization, deployment, performance evaluation) Contribute to claim mitigation Implements and follows up Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP)

 

MARKET INTELLIGENCE

 

Contribute to analyse market trends (products, suppliers and customers) and cost drivers globally Conduct market benchmarks (customers, competitors, suppliers) Identify and promote internally Supplier Innovation and coordinate solution testing/homologation trough  contractual agreement Identify and propose alternative products/technologies in the category

 

SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT

 

Identify/update proper supplier portfolio in line with Strategic plan in order to leverage cross-BG synergies and common needs Manage Supplier Relationships management at proper level Monitor the Supplier performance and improvement roadmaps according to E3 (Economic, Environment, Engagement) model Promote Suppliers engagement and deployment of framework agreement or/and long-term agreements  for the category. Participate to performance supplier audits and follow up

 

OPERATIONAL INVOLVEMENT

 

Facilitate teamwork with internal customers and stakeholders Contribute to saving plan in line with annual objectives Participate to monthly dashboard for the category Assist internal stakeholders (at various level of the organization) in their usage/compliancy  with Capex group purchasing & CIM process/rules

Required skills and qualifications (Management and function competencies regarding available Nexans models, personal attributes, education, experience)

 

Experience:  minimum 10 years leadership experience in Purchasing within Industrial environments, including experience in Capex Purchasing category management Education: Engineering Master degree or equivalent, MBA a plus Digital skills: Power BI a plus Fluent in English Leadership skills: Very strong drive, ability to interact transversely with cross-functional teams Transformation skills, developing internal stakeholders ways of working as well as  make cross-business teams and other internal stakeholders work most efficiently together Cross-functional, multi-sites and multicultural (global) leadership Communication skills Mastering the purchasing value chain, and specifically: Category management, Direct Purchasing best practices knowledge & experience (all levers) in industrial environment. Contract management Supplier management and negotiation skills Ability to take decision based on available facts Make prompt, clear decisions which may involve tough choices or considered risks Take responsibility for actions, projects and people Take initiatives, act with confidence and work under own direction Continuously initiate and generate cost and cash optimization activity Entrepreneurial delivering results and meeting stakeholders expectations
