Job Summary
The Capital Project Manager is the single point of accountability for the end-to-end execution of assigned Capital projects in the range of $1M to $5M and may execute projects up to $10M.Working with leadership, technology, maintenance, operations, engineering, safety and quality, the Project Manager is accountable to the sites for capital projects implementation, status reporting and optimal utilization of site team/external engineering in compliance with sites and corporate work processes.
Project Manager in IFF implies the position is Leverageable meaning she/he could be responsible for several projects across multiple sites and expect traveling up to 50% of the time.
Responsibilities
Project Management
Coordinates with Project Sponsor and Business Engineering Director to develop Business Objectives LetterLeads and provides input into developing the project objectives.Coordinates with the Site Engineering & Maintenance and Global Capital Execution Leader to develop project execution strategy and priorities to support achievement of business objectives.Coordinates with Finance to develop project economic model to support project justification and prioritization.Teamwork
Provides leadership for an effective and cohesive team by ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood, team member workloads are reasonable, cross-function communications are adequate for both internal and external membersWorks with high performing teams from an external engineering partner.Communication
Regularly engages the project steering team to ensure alignment with business and functional direction, seek help with issue resolution and provide status updates throughout the project's execution.Defines and analyzes Key Performance Indicators to ensure overall performance expectations for the project are met and communicates results to the steering team and appropriate functional leaders.Basic Engineering & Design practices
Works with Process Engineers / Manufacturing Technology for developing strong Basic Data.Works with project team and engineering leadership to identify appropriate design deliverables.Process Safety & Safe Design
Ensures all the required EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) reviews are held, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements are incorporated into the facility design and installation.Engages Process Hazard Analysis experts when neededFront-End Loading
Understands Front-End Loading (FEL) process and leads project gatekeeping reviews.Leads the team in identifying non-cap alternatives or lower capital options, evaluating scope options, conducting risks analyses, and developing mitigation plansProcurement
Engages early and independently with Sourcing organization during FEL to align on Contracting and Procurement strategiesDrives the use of preferred vendors / suppliers and alliances partners.Construction and Execution Safety, Quality
Responsible for the safe execution of all field construction activities leveraging, when needed, Construction Management through Engineering contractors.Prepares preliminary construction safety & quality plan including EHS standards, Job Safety Analysis/Safe Work Permit development and "toolbox" meetings prior to contractor workPerforms meaningful safety and quality audits and tracks observationsCommissioning & Start-Up
Ensures site personnel are staffed and prepared for commissioning, pre-start-up reviews, and start-up of the new facilities, including training, procedure updates, maintenance records updates, qualification plans etc.Ensures schedules are aligned with supply chain and operations/maintenance needs, such as Turn-Arounds (TARs), to determine when outages are available if necessary.Scheduling and Cost Control
Develops detailed cost estimate following Estimating Guidelines requirements.Develops integrated project schedule and runs critical path analysis to adjust project team efforts and keep project on trackProvides monthly Cost Control and update Forecast according to real progress vs plansEnsures only changes consistent with the business and project objectives are approved.Job Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree, or equivalent technical experience in Engineering fields: Process / Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Bio-Tech, Food Technology Engineering.Experience or knowledge of Flavors / Food Ingredients Manufacturing preferred.Fluent in EnglishMinimum 5 years of experience in capital project management and implementing projects in active operating/production areas.Demonstrated Ability to effectively self-manage and prioritize multiple Projects tasks and drive projects to completion with strong operability to support reliable, high-quality production. Demonstrated Ability to lead and work effectively with diverse Teams.Experience with GMP design, FS/FQ requirements, Food Systems practices and design preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required and experience with Microsoft Project, SAP and/or other project management tools preferred.Construction Safety Rules & Regulations (OSHA 510 or equivalent) preferred.Ability to accurately communicate project risks to multiple audiences and drive mitigation actions as needed.Strong ability in partnering with peers and teams to drive critical success factors.Solution-oriented attitude, contributing to success in reaching complex business targets and deadlines.Positive and constructive personal approach and strong influence leadership skills.Demonstrated organizational, structural, and know-how regarding interpersonal skills, including confrontation skills, alignment skills, supportive skills, and leading change management.We are a global leader in taste, scent, and nutrition, offering our customers a broader range of natural solutions and accelerating our growth strategy.
