Primary Role
Responsible for implementing all control requirements of Project Management and associated governance related to policies, practices, procedures, controls, and reporting within the project delivery function of the engineering capital program. Serves as a companywide resource for Engineering Project Managers and Engineering Project Specialists to ensure they are appropriately utilizing applicable business applications and following workflows, including the development and maintenance of AW project management training and support documentation.
Key Accountabilities Establish appropriate project management controls to comply with the applicable policies and procedures of the Company. Develop and maintain AW specific support documentation. Establish the standards and testing requirements for the state engineering teams to act as the first line of defense for capital project delivery compliance; and establish the structure and process for a corporate-led second line of defense to ensure effective governance. Develops and implements project management best practices, including change management, tracking, and results reporting of adoption rates. Mentor and train project managers and engineering project specialists on best practices. Serves as a liaison between Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, and other key stakeholders and applicable functions to drive capital efficiency through effective project management. Work with the state project delivery teams to implement effective governance as the first line of defense. Develop the necessary monitoring and testing requirements to establish a corporate-led second line of defense to ensure effective capital project delivery governance. Develop and implement project management best practices, including change management, tracking, and results reporting, drive capital efficiency through effective project management. Develop project manager and project specialist training focused on leveraging appropriate procedures and workflows in coordination with the established Company applications and business systems. Meet regularly with partners and associated teams to review current / past performance metrics Knowledge/Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills (e.g., fluency in report writing and presentations). Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., persuasion, negotiation, listening, cooperation, tact, diplomacy, problem solving, internal consulting). Strong project management skills (e.g. planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and reporting on project activities, managing concurrent projects). Strong quantitative skills (e.g., analytical, technical, problem solving). Strong capital project management knowledge; ideally with training in six-sigma or other process excellence methodologies Working knowledge of e-Builder or related project management tools. Experience in program administration or coordination duties, document controls using e-builder or similar tool supporting a large department or group in project controls, financial reporting, project management or related field. Working knowledge of construction industry including methodology, terminology, workflow/paper flow of planning, design, and construction activities, as well as demonstrated knowledge of contract documents and specifications. Strong knowledge of computer software such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience/Education↵
Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or similar technology or project management field is preferred Equivalent work experience may be considered. 7+ years’ relevant experience. Consideration will be given for advanced degrees and/or relevant certification(s) in lieu of minimum years of experience. Experience in capital project management/administration preferred. Utility experience preferred.
