Capital Risk Manager

This role will support all facets of Guardian’s Risk Based Capital (RBC) planning process. The position will serve as a resource to the Guardian enterprise on all RBC matters including strategic transactions, new product design, risk scenarios and accounting/regulatory changes. As a contributor to the annual enterprise planning process, the role will be responsible for multi-year RBC projections across three legal entities. This role will also be closely involved in rating agency capital modeling.

Key partners include Corporate Actuarial, Asset/Liability Management, Enterprise Risk Management and Enterprise/Line of Business Financial Planning and Analysis.

You will:

Manage an ongoing forward RBC forecast relying on the Enginuity Corporate Planning model and proactively building out knowledge of all potential risks, opportunities, and downstream impacts.

Analyze and monitor actual financial results to determine potential forward capital impact.

Ensure a framework is in place that adequately captures sources and uses of capital across major product lines.

Develop a thorough understanding of the forward general account asset allocation strategy.

Expand rating agency capital models to capture both standard and ad hoc stress scenarios.

Proactively seek and drive opportunities to support capital optimization across the balance sheet.

Drive efficiency and standardization within the broader Enginuity Corporate Planning model.

Organized with strong attention to detail and an ability to coordinate workstreams.

You have:

5+ years of experience in the life insurance industry.

Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or other quantitative discipline preferred.

FSA preferred; CPA or CFA charter holder/candidates a plus.

Skilled in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Proven communication and relationship building skills.

Reporting Relationship:

As our Capital Risk Manager, you will report to the Head of Market Risk Management, who, in turn, reports to the Chief Risk Officer.

Location:   

Hybrid role - 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH - at the Hudson Yards, NYC office.

Travel to Guardian offices as determined by the People Leader.

Salary Range:

$148,940.00 - $244,685.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
