Carbohydrate Ingredient Development Intern (Summer 2025)

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious student to join our R&D team for summer 2025! As the Carbohydrate Ingredient Development Intern, you will support progression of a well-defined research project related to preparation and characterization of a unique, novel starch-based ingredient. You will have the opportunity characterizing the prototype ingredients for their functionality/utility in both food and non-food applications. This work will also give you the opportunity to receive hands-on experience in using novel processing equipment.

Your role will be:

Operating laboratory equipment and conducting experiments safely following SOPsCommunicating effectively and efficiently with the supervisor and team members and seeking support as needed and appropriateMaintaining a clean, safe work environment; following guidelines for good housekeeping and safetyCollecting and compiling relevant background information (literature, patents, etc.) relevant to the project and summarizing the outcomes in appropriate formatsBe a good team player: Working well with others in laboratory, effectively communicating with colleagues and cross-functional team membersPerforming laboratory experiments, collect and analyze data, and interpret results to make scientifically rational conclusionsPresenting project status updates, and outcomes to the team and key partnersRecording data in the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and other archiving databases as appropriate; effectively communicating results to project teams and stakeholdersPresenting research findings to management with project outcomes and recommendations prior to the completion of internship period (allowing sufficient time to reviews and revisions for the reports and presentations)

Your profile needs these qualifications:

Progress towards either Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Chemistry with laboratory research experienceAbility to work safely in a shared laboratory environmentExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written technical communication skills, e.g. Preparing presentations and writing technical data/reportsWorking knowledge of basic computer software applications such as MS Office Suite and other, common scientific softwareReliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day or the week
