Cardiac Cath Lab Manager -- Cardiac Cath Lab -- Heart & Vascular Center

Job Summary

Responsible for the overall development and operation of the Cardiac Cath Labs at CAMC, including the direction of the technical, transcription, and records management services; interaction with physician groups; and the development of service and equipment necessary to provide diagnostic and therapeutic patient studies and results thereof. Active participant in the coordination of imaging services for the Cardiac Cath Lab across the continuum.

 

Responsibilities

1. Direct and coordinate EP and Cardiac Cath department activities in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and policy/procedures. 2. Represent the department at a variety of internal and external meetings, communicating pertinent information to affected groups. 3. Enforce safety regulations to ensure that both patients and hospital personnel receive maximum protection from the hazardous effects of ionizing radiation, radioactive materials and high strength magnetic fields used in diagnosis and therapy. 4. Accountable for employee selection, hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, employee relations, discipline and termination. 5. Work closely with Electrophysiologist, cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and other physicians as necessary in evaluating their services and performance, making recommendations as appropriate. 6. Participates in organizational development, including activities related to organizational facilitation, program development, leadership development, and professional development. 7. Assist CCL Director, Associate Administrator(s) and Vice President w/ specific marketing responsibilities which include: interpreting CAMCHS goals, culture and environment and applying the direction and findings to the development and accomplishment of department goals; developing and implementing a business plan that identifies short and long term goals and strategies for program development, marketing and resource utilization. 8. Specific financial responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness with the use of service standards, unit cost information, contribution margin reports and service volume reports. 9. Encourage cooperation within service group and between other service groups and other hospital departments. 10. Cooperate with Corporate Nursing QI and Medical QI. Demonstrate a commitment to the process. Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. Will need to develop Top 5 board quality initiative directly related to EP and Cardiac Cath Lab area for improvement. 11. Assess the need to define and re-define standards of care, protocols, and job descriptions in each corporate area according to needs of the patient. 12. Assure employee understanding of work integration with other departments throughout the institution. 13. Facilitate all levels of student opportunities for learning with varied schools of nursing and allied health. 14. Assure personnel follow through with timely flow of information, e.g., reports, incident reports, patient complaints, etc. 15. Determine and maintain acceptable staffing patterns based on applicable standards which provides care to all patients twenty-four hours a day. Managing/coordinating patient/physician scheduling w/in department. 16. Collaborate with charge nurse, chief tech and patient care supervisors for unit coverage. 17. Communicate and coordinate with CCL Director, Associate Administrator(s) regarding unit progress, plans, problems, etc. Make recommendations for appropriate changes. 18. Validates and maintains departmental competencies and quality for point-of-care-testing.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Education 

• Bachelor's Degree (Required) Experience: 5 years Cath/EP Lab experience.

 

Credentials 

• Registered Nurse (Required)
• Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hireWithin 30 days of hire
