The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist II is responsible for delivering high quality patient care through efficient, knowledgeable, and safe performance in assisting physicians with Cardiac Catheterization procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.
Assist the physician as requested and directed in the performance of any cardiac catheterization procedure Observe and attend to the needs of each patient while in the care of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the Cardiac Cath Lab Accurately record, note, and file as necessary Provide explanation and instruction to any medical personnel observing a procedure in order to maintain sterility of necessary areas, safety of patients, and safety of personnel Assist, as directed by a physician, during any emergency resuscitation procedure Check the function of and prepare equipment for any necessary patient procedures; complete checklists Assist the director in maintaining proper stock of supplies by informing of low levels or defective materials Assist in preparing patient for procedure and do any pre-cath teaching deemed necessary according to patient needs Assist in providing post-cath care to include post-cath teachings and accompanying the patient back to their room Prepare instrument tables by: checking all equipment; checking fluids, medications dosage, concentration, and expiration dates; and ensuring instruments are the proper size Be proficient in percutaneous coronary diagnostic and interventional procedures Be proficient in functioning as a scrub assistant, monitor assistant, and circulator Assist in the education and training of new staff members Maintain equipment in ready conditionEducation and Experience
Minimum Required Education: Associates degree or higher, completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology program towards obtaining a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registry
Experience: 2+ years Cath Lab experience is required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Applicant must be ACLS, RCT, RCVT, RCES, and/or RT-R registered, or registry eligible.
