The Registered Nurse (RN) Electrophysiology (EP) Device role encompasses a specialized position within the field of EP focusing on the management and technical aspects of cardiac electronic devices. Working under close supervision, this role collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure proper functioning, maintenance, and patient education related to EP devices, contributing to improved patient outcomes.
Helps evaluate and analyze patients' cardiac devices (pacemakers, defibrillators, etc.) to ensure proper functionality and patient safety, identifying any irregularities or concerns.
Supports the programming and reprogramming of cardiac devices based on physicians' orders and patient needs, ensuring accurate settings for optimal cardiac function.
Educates patients and their families about the use, care, and troubleshooting of cardiac devices, enabling them to confidently manage their conditions at home.
Communicates device assessments, programming changes, and patient education details with interdisciplinary teams and physicians for comprehensive patient care planning.
Assists in emergency response situations involving cardiac devices, providing timely assistance and support to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:Required: Associates Degree in Nursing
Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
EXPERIENCE:Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse with 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required:
Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
