JOB SUMMARY
The Cardiac Sonographer uses echocardiography or ultrasound equipment to evaluate the cardiac system allowing the physician to diagnose the patient’s cardiac function. The individual will record patient history, analyze technical information and provide summaries of findings to physicians.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Two year associate degree or two year technical diploma in a related health care program.
Preferred/Optional: Bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Patient care experience.
Preferred/Optional: One year experience as a cardiac sonographer.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) awarded by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within two years of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) awarded by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
