Position Summary: Performs technical work in the delivery of electrocardiographic testing services which include electrocardiograms, stress tests, and Holter monitors.

 

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1.        1.  Applies and removes the test equipment monitors. Answers questions                 from patients and family members and educates them on the use of the               equipment.

Performs EKGs, stress tests, Holter monitors, event monitors and ambulatory blood pressure monitors on patient. Performs analysis on tests conducted. Recognizes and reports any potentially hazardous arrhythmias to the appropriate physicians. Processes and edits EKGs and related reports as needed. Records and files information related to all tests performed. Cleans, adjusts and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Qualifications:

Required:

High school diploma or GED. One (1) year experience as an ECG technician with training in arrhythmia recognition or equivalent combination of experience and training. BLS certification. Fundamental knowledge of theory, principles, practices, techniques and equipment used in all aspects of electrocardiographic testing. CCT certification (Certified Cardiographic Technician).

 Preferred: 

Graduate of cardiovascular technology course.
