Cardiology RN - Pea Ridge Vascular and Heart

We are seeking a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiology team. The Cardiology RN will deliver high-quality patient care to individuals with various heart-related conditions. This position includes, but is not limited to, coordinating care for heart failure patients, managing coagulation therapy, and providing direct patient care during stress testing procedures. Key responsibilities include monitoring and assessment, patient education, collaboration, emergency response, documentation, medication administration, and ensuring compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Stress Lab Nursing:Assist in the preparation and management of patients undergoing stress testing, including treadmill exercise tests, pharmacologic stress tests, and nuclear stress tests.Monitor patients during testing for signs of distress or adverse reactions, ensuring safety and comfort.Administer and monitor medications (e.g., Lexiscan®) during pharmacologic stress testing.Collaborate with cardiologists to interpret stress test results and ensure accurate documentation.Heart Failure Management:Assess and manage patients with heart failure, including monitoring symptoms such as shortness of breath, edema, and fatigue.Administer heart failure medications, including diuretics, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, and anticoagulants.Educate patients and families on heart failure management strategies, including lifestyle modifications, fluid management, dietary recommendations, and medication adherence.Coordinate care for patients transitioning from the hospital to outpatient settings, ensuring appropriate follow-up care and support.Coagulation Therapy:Administer and monitor anticoagulation therapy for patients requiring treatment for conditions such as atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism.Perform regular assessments, including monitoring INR (International Normalized Ratio) levels and adjusting dosages of anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin, direct oral anticoagulants).Provide patient education on anticoagulant therapy, including medication adherence, potential side effects, dietary considerations, and bleeding precautions.Collaborate with physicians to adjust therapy based on lab results and patient response.Patient Education and Support:Provide thorough education to patients about the procedures, treatments, and lifestyle modifications involved in their care.Empower patients to manage their heart failure, stress test outcomes, and coagulation therapy by providing clear guidance on self-monitoring and symptom management.Offer emotional support to patients and families, addressing concerns about complex cardiac treatments.Collaboration and Communication:Collaborate closely with cardiologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimize patient care.Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to ensure patient needs are addressed.Documentation and Record-Keeping:Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, treatments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR).Ensure that all patient care activities comply with regulatory standards and institutional policies.Quality Improvement and Safety:Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on optimizing care delivery, improving patient outcomes, and reducing readmission rates.Follow all safety protocols, including infection control, medication administration standards, and cardiac monitoring procedures.Monitor and ensure compliance with clinical guidelines for stress testing, heart failure management, and anticoagulation therapy.
