JOB SUMMARY

\n

The Cardiology Tech 1 handles performing routine, stat, pre-operative and outpatient EKG testing to help physicians in the delivery of patient care. Records electromotive variations in action of heart muscle by using electrocardiograph machine to give data for diagnosis of heart ailments.

\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

\n\nCompletes all necessary steps to get and process electrocardiograms.\nExplains test procedures as needed to prepare patients for the process and to provide them with the necessary functions.\nUtilizes all equipment associated with EKG procedures properly and records the necessary information accurately to obtain high quality results.\nMonitors heart rates, arrhythmias and blood pressure under the supervision of a Senior EKG technician and/or a physician.\nNotes any significant deviation in technique used to record EKG and completes any required forms and distributes reports by Baylor Scott & White Health procedures.\nPerforms Holter Monitor hookups using established procedures.\nPerforms basic functions on MUSE-EKG database system.\nDownloads EKG's accurately for proper storage and retrieval. Prints record and attached proper documentation to tracing for all billing transactions.\nPerforms retrieval and report distribution tasks quickly and efficiently.\nInputs patient demographic and test data into computerized EKG machine accurately and in a timely way.\nMaintains cleanliness of work area, including monitoring supplies.\nMaintains equipment in operational condition by replenishing paper and reporting any problems to the appropriate person in a conscientious and timely way.\n\n

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

\n\nPrevious experience in healthcare related field preferred.\nUse of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.\nAbility to multi-task and self-lead problem solving skills.\nAbility to demonstrate precision and flexibility.\n\n

\n\nEDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent\nEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience\nCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -  Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
